The official X (formerly known as Twitter) account of Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen manga made an announcement on Monday, revealing that the manga will end in its 44th issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on September 30

Shueisha reiterated the conclusion of the manga during the ‘Jump Press’ livestream video on Monday. Gege Akutami had previously hinted at the impending end of the series during Jump Festa ’24, stating in a handwritten comment that it would likely be the final Jump Festa where Jujutsu Kaisen would still be in serialization. This comment led many fans to speculate about the series’ conclusion this year.

A Journey Through the Manga and Its Success

Launched in March 2018 in Weekly Shonen Jump, Jujutsu Kaisen has enthralled readers with its unique storytelling and compelling characters. Shueisha has published 27 compiled book volumes, with the latest volume released on July 5. In addition to print, Viz Media is offering the manga both digitally and in print, while Shueisha’s Manga Plus service is also making the series available digitally.

Anime Adaptations and Continuation

The manga’s success led to an anime adaptation that premiered in October 2020, consisting of 24 episodes. Following that, the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 anime film premiered in Japan in December 2021 and was later released in the U.S. and Canada in March 2022. The second season of the anime aired in July 2023, running continuously for two cours (quarters of a year), and was streamed by Crunchyroll with English subs and dubs. Fans can look forward to a sequel, as the anime will continue to adapt the manga’s ‘Culling Game’ arc, with the animation studio MAPPA continuing its production.
